Server extensions adding include pages!!! - 3/15/2002 21:40:59
I've seen 3 posts here concerning FP Extensions corrupting pages with include pages. It adds include pages without warning. When the page is opened to edit, an error message tells me that a FP component has been modified and that it will be overwritten. The tables on these pages are scrambled, also. Everytime the extensions are removed and reinstalled, more include pages show up. I have up to 5 on many pages. It only affects some pages that have include pages, but unfortunately, in my web there are about 180 that are affected. Thanks in advance - I need to get this fixed!!! Mike- I should have paid more attention to you the first time. I was just too delirious to think straight. Advertisers wondering what's going on, etc. They have acknowledged that I didn't have any problems until they upgraded to 2002, so they have reinstalled 2000. Now I need them to restore my backup copy for the fourth time. And I will have to update material on the site for the fourth time. What a week! As always, you've been a big help. How many times have I heard this story about 2002 extensions? Amazing. Phil "If God is not a Tar Heel, then why are hyperlinks default-colored Carolina blue?" http://1awebhosting.com 1A Web Hosting for Frontpage.

I had no intention of upgrading until I was convinced that bugs in 2002 had been worked out. Now that I've researched it, it sounds like the bug I experienced is common. Why in the world Interland unilaterally decided that I (and others) needed 2002 extensions when they knew these bugs existed is beyond me. Until now, I've been very happy with them, but I may have to ask for a pretty big reimbursement here. I've spent hours troubleshooting and rebuilding, lost revenue, lost sleep, and posted some incoherent posts on Outfront, because they switched my extensions to 2002. Moral of the story: If you're using FP2000, call your host and insist that you be notified if 2002 extensions become the norm. If you have no intent to upgrade soon, move your site!
