Select the text tool and place your cursor over the area where you want to place text and click. The Text Entry dialog box comes up and, on the left side, is a section called Styles with sub headings Stroke and Fill. Hovering over the colored box next to Fill turns your cursor into an eyedropper. Click this box (not the arrow on the right edge of the box, but the center of the box itself) and the Color palette pops up. Select your color and away you go. This assumes you are trying PSP 7. <--Your information went data way -->

Make sure you click the "Standard Text" button below the stoke and fill feature. That might help. Dave _________________________ If you see me running, try to keep up--either someone has tapped a fresh keg or something has gone desperately wrong.

Hmmmmmmm. When you click on "Fill" it should bring up a "Color" dialog box and then you can shoose from basic or custom colors. The new color should show up in the "New Color" box and then when you click OK it should be your new text color. You mentioned you are "trying" PSP. I'm wondering if it's a Trial Version if they have this feature disabled--but I can't image why. Don't give up kmc. Someone will have an answer here shortly. That's how I got to be as smart as I are. Hi, When you first began your image project, did you choose 1 bit color as your image type? That would limit you to two colors, but I think they are usually just black and white. Maura

Good point Maura. kmc, go to colors/increase color depth and make sure you're at 16 bazillion or whatever it is.

The trial version should be a fully functional version. With your text still selected, On the menu bar do Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow and play around with opacity, blur, color and offsets. Here are some good settings to start with: Opacity 75%, Blur 8.6, Offsets 2 and 2, color black. Just play with it from there.

I'm not at home so I don't have PSP in front of me but it goes something like this: Make another layer of your text then merge the layers. I think you need more than one layer to use a lot of the effects. You may also have to convert it to a JPEG. Hi KMC You need to highlight something or all of the image to drop shadow.Use your wand or selection tool. And play play play. My biggest tip for PSP is to always have the 'Tool options' window open , it is the blue bar one next to the spanner looking thing ( on the second top bar....depending how your page is set up) It enables you control over all the side bar tools. ...............took me weeks before I found it , and then my view on the world changed. Its round !!! Cheers from the Outback Get your didgeridoos from http://www.didj-territory.com.au

did you make your text as a vector layer? try using floating instead.

KMC, When you place the text it creates a new layer. Be sure that layer is the active layer then convert it to a raster layer. (The easiest way for me to check the active layer is to have the layer pallet opened. You do that by going to view/toolbars.) On the main menu - Layers/convert to raster layer You can then apply your effects like drop shadow. Might want to play around with the different things you can do. It's fun!
