The hover buttons in my "main" page suddenly do not work. Just blank gray boxes in preview and in the browser. I tried the detect and repair to no avail. No big surprise since it's never repaired anything yet. A clue might be in the way I also got "an error has occurred in the script on this page" accessing my default page. That script is a "dynamic effects" (fly in text). I got that fixed by replacing the html with a backup copy, but that didn't work with the hover buttons. To stay in business I made the menu normal links for now, but people liked the hover buttons. Anybody got any ideas. (Gene, Dixiedi, Anyone?) Thanks. Hovers buttons can be a real pain, but here are two things to look at: what's with the javascript reference at the hyperlink and no closing tag? Is the fphoverclass intact and where it should be?

Dave, thanks for the tips. Regarding, "what's with the javascript reference at the hyperlink and no closing tag?". I can't say because when I changed the menu to normal links the html changed (of course). Regarding: "Is the fphoverclass intact and where it should be?" This could well be the problem. Much as I hate to admit it, I think I deleted these when cleaning out what I thought were unused files. Can they be restored. If so, how, (in plainest, simplest terms possible please) Thanks again. Hello Gene. As Swirl hinted earlier, you would really be better off forgetting the hover buttons altogether. They are Java applets which means they are a huge memory sapper. That's why they are very slow to load. Many computers simply do not have the RAM to open them while running another program. It's not unusual for them to crash browsers, both Netscape and IE. They are terribly unpredictable. Sometimes they will load and sometimes not, leaving your viewers with those lovely gray boxes. Search engines cannot read their links and browsers for the visually disabled cannot read them. JavaScript is the way to go for navigation that changes on rollover. The Mighty Mouseover Machine, mentioned earlier in this thread, will write that JavaScript for you at no charge. If you need further help, please let us know. Here you go: http://www.builder.com/Programming/Kahn/012898/ In your graphics program you will need to create two versions of each button, an "on" and an "off." Give them simple descriptive file names such as, contact_on.gif and contact_off.gif. Use lower case letters. Do NOT use spaces in your file names. You can use the underscore. Import them into your FP web images folder. When you use the MMM, you will be typing in the file name of each button. Because they reside in your images folder, the file names you type in will look something like, images/contact_off.gif and images/contact_on.gif. Before you start though, you'll need to have 2 graphics - one for your 'on' look, and one for your 'mouseover' look. These will need to be made the exact same size. If you are not familiar with a graphics program, Image Composer came with the standalone version of FP, on the 2nd CD.
