Site Critique, Please - 3/17/2002 15:18:51
I would greatly appreciate a critique of my site at http://www.mcacp.org/new. It is not completely done, but most of the main pages are in place.

Looks good, checked it in IE6, NS6 and NS4. Realizing that you probably intend to fill in some of the white space, there are only 2 things I noticed. There's a FP component error on the calendar status page and the menu is a bit jumpy in NS6. Otherwise, nice job.

ah reckon, tharfo'e ah's, ah reckon.

Thank you. I removed the errant error message. It was a remnant of an earlier effort. As for the white space. In the old version at http://www/mcacp.org, I used the same right side contact as appears on the index page. In the new version, I thought I would save load time by excluding that content. Should I reduce the white space on the right side? Do you think the right site content from the index page is too redundant to include on other pages?

Business design. Straight and to the point.

Some style suggestions:
The left menu - Align to left, not center and make the entire cell turn blue on mouseover. (There are lotsa scripts on the net that cover that)
The top vertical bar "feels" somewhat small in comparison to the side bars. So increase the height somewhat.
Finally: The header needs a graphical logo. That's realy missing here.
Fot the rest. Good color sheme. Funny use of the dotted lines on top and bottom of tables. Keep that there (I'll keep it in my mind!)
Have you tried replacing the red border around the topic headers with a darker shade of the backgroud green?

Hey, this site is "allmost done". Very professional, just needs some final tweeks.
Wow!

Thanks Deadbeef. I increased the size of the top cell. It does look better. I also changed the colors on the right side menu. I tried having the mouseover change to blue, but if one missed the links in the cell, the text stayed red and you could not read it. I changed the mouseover to a lighter color and the text to blue so if the link is missed the text still shows.

About the menu being aligned left. Is there a reason for that. I added a column to the left of the menu so that the left border of the menu was visible and lined up with the text at the top. It is 10px from the edge. I originally had it aligned left but it looked like a three sided border. Is the left alignment a design standard or is it your preference? Thanks again for the help.
