VERY new, need some help - 3/20/2002 18:44:42
My husband and I are trying to upload his website to AT&T, he is using frames(yes I know, he shouldn't do that, but he INSISTS!). Well, we do not have a FTP program, we are just using the upload ftp feature with FP2000. I can upload just fine, but then it doesn't show up! Or if anything does, it is just the frame nothing else. He also had problems with his navigation bar set up(I wasn't there so I really don't know what he did). Can the navigation bar cause this problem if the 'home page' isn't set up correctly? Or is it the darn frames? If you need any more info, or anything let me know. I appreciate any help you guys may be able to offer me. We are new and have just winged this whole thing, so we are not that familiar with Front Page or website design/layout stuff. Thanks again, Karen

Karen, Instead of using FTP to upload the site try "publish" in FP. If you FTP the site any components that you have (that require the FP server extensions) will not work. The frames of themselves shouldn't be your problem. If you have more info please pass it along I'm sure someone here can help if this doesn't. ah reckon, tharfo'e ah's, ah reckon.

Hi Karen Throw in a URL so we can have a squiz at it. If it works in your preview mode, chances are it should work on line. Cheers from the Outback Get your didgeridoos from http://www.didj-territory.com.au Looking for a website "prize" for your next marketing campaign ? ! For a difference, try a didgeridoo . Contact Garry for a Frontpage webmaster deal.

Okay guys, Here's the address http://www.budoarts.com it redirects you to the AT&T site and says No Content. BTW, I/we did go to File and then Publish, but chose ftp://upload.att.net instead of doing the http://____ stuff. The server doesn't support http upload and the only other way, besides FTP, is to upload each file separately. We didn't have this problem using another program when we uploaded the first site about 6 months ago.

Many Frontpage features only work if your web hoster has installed on their web server the Frontpage Server Extensions. Most web hosting companies support Frontpage Server Extensions, but many require you to tell them to install them for your specific web site. Good luck!

Hi, Karen -- This is VERY simple, but I had the same problem with my first FP upload and it turned out my host only recognized a index.html home page, and not an index.htm like FP provides. It's been years later, and like everyone, I've encountered a lot of other publishing problems along the way, but I don't remember any as frustrating as this one because there were no error messages and browser checks showed the site was fine. Best of luck -- Clair
