FP site looks better in Netscape - 3/21/2002 12:07:20
Hello. My school's website (built in Front Page) looks better in Netscape than Internet Explorer. Tables that were set up as centered do not look correct in Internet Explorer. The web address is www.portville.wnyric.org Any ideas? Thanks, Tim Houseknecht Portville, NY

It looks really close other than the main table itself is off to the left in IE. Thats because you have this--- topmargin="1" leftmargin="4" --- in your body tag and NN doesnt recognize it. Just remove it if you want it to look like that in IE Troy | www.aplustemplates.com

Hi Tim, Looked at your site with XP, IE 6.0, 28.8 on 56K modem and resolution at 800 X 600. The site looked good to me. I didn't hit all the links, but those I did also returned a good page. Fast load at 28.8 - good job! John Age is a high price to pay for maturity.

John: Thanks for looking at it. It's more noticeable on a 17" monitor. Part of the problem might be that I set tables at 100% (vs. a specific size). (?)

Troy: I tried removing the margin command in the body tag, which did not produce the desired result. The problem I see is not with the table as a whole, but with the text inside each table cell. I have set it as centered, but it doesn't look centered using IE, especially in the bottom cell of the home page. This is especially evident on a larger monitor. I'm using FP 2000. Thanks again. Tim

Mixing percentages and pixels for table width can be tricky. I would just define the cells in percenatges like you have the table. That will correct it. Look here to see what I mean.. http://www.aplustemplates.com/temp/poty/ Troy | www.aplustemplates.com

It worked! Thank you very much. Any idea why blinking characters won't work in Internet Explorer?

Thanks again for your help everyone. Concerning my blinking character question, it just seems a bit weird that a Microsoft product (Internet Explorer) would not support a feature in Front Page. Oh well.
