sditullio -> You are not authorized to view this page (3/22/2002 9:36:08)

Members of my site keep getting this error if they come in from AOL or Netscape
Tried several times to ask my new host (***host) why this is happening but still haven't received a response. (It's been 2 days now)
So I thought I would ask all of you. Your help would be appreciated.
SD

HTTP 401.2 - Unauthorized: Logon failed due to server configuration
Internet Information Services

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Technical Information (for support personnel)

Background:
This is usually caused by a server-side script not sending the proper WWW-Authenticate header field. Using Active Server Pages scripting this is done by using the AddHeader method of the Response object to request that the client use a certain authentication method to access the resource.

If you can get ahold of the ISP have them check the server logs. These will usually give more details as to why the authentication failed.

They said it's because I password protected the site!!.

Members coming in from IE6 can access the site by putting in the password but members coming in from AOL are not even given the opportunity to put a password in. They are just denied access.

I have taken the password off they can come in...I'm at a lost.

by what method are you password protecting the site?

Normally I would open my web live. Go to tools click on security and then permissions. Then I would set up my user name with a password.

With this new host I had to set it up in their control panel then go into FP and pull the name up that I set up in the Control panel and set it up that way.

As posted before members coming in off of Internet explorer have no problem but members coming in off of AOL or Netscape can't get in. What's throwing me for a loop here is the AOL members are not even getting a password box then are just denied.

Any thoughts,
SD

can you have the ISP check the file wecerr.txt and then maybe you can post the errors here?

I will ask them but their support page is down.

Hello to all hope you are having a better day than me...

Have not received a response back on the wecerr.txt file info from my host. He told me to check my log.

Well I went back and password protected the site and then pulled up my log. Being new at reading these the following is the only thing I could find that had to do with me trying to access the file from AOL. I don't know what it means or if means anything at all. Take a look and let me know.
