webpage copying problem - 3/25/2002 17:30:14
My webpages are saved on "My Webs", but there are two indexes. When I go to File and click on open web, the incorrect index comes up. It is the one I used when I first started building and not my current webpage. I have another index for my current webpage which does not come up when I try to open web. How can I get my current pages into the correct index? Is there some way to delete the first one. I have tried, but it won't let me delete. Or can I just put my current pages into a new folder? or what should I do? I am trying to publish my webpages, but I can't make anything work. Does any of this make sense? Thanks for any help.

Hi Carodolls I'm not sure if I understand your problem. Have you created more than one web site? If so, you need to locate the correct web folder or sub web folder on your computer. Click file/open web and then click the dropdown next to the "look in" box. You can then browse to the correct web folder. Hope this helps. Swirl Diplomacy is the art of letting someone have your way.

Check for a folder on your C:\ Drive called InetPub. Look in this folder for a folder called WWWRoot. Open that one and see if your files are in there. Gene White http://www.gwhitedesign.com

Thanks for your responses, but I guess I am not making myself clear. I can find the files, but in my web folder, I have two index files. When I go to file and my webs, the other index folder appears and my current one does not appear. I can get to it by going to just File and open, but when I go to copy it, both webs copy, not just the current one. I checked on the C:\drive for InetPub, but could not find. Can you tell me how to get to it. I searched and then I went to the folders on the c:\, but couldn't find it. Thanks, again.

Try going into Windows explorer and browse to the folder where your new page is located. Once you find it, double click on the file and see if the page will open in FP. I'm not sure what you did, but it sounds like you may have created a new single page without creating a new web for it to reside in first? Try the above and maybe we can sort this out. Hi Swirl I think you may be right. I found the webs by going to windows explorer, but it was everything that I have created. You must be right that I didn't create a web for this because when I open the index page, I have to open each other page individually. How can I go back and create a web for this. Is this possible? Thanks.

Hi Carodolls You should be able to create a new web and then import the existing pages. This may require a little tweeking once you get the pages imported into the new web, but it's better than starting over from scratch. Good luck Swirl Diplomacy is the art of letting someone have your way.

Another thing, Swirl, when I go to the navigation page, the entire web is there just like it should be, but I can open it as a web. I'm sure it must be something I did in the beginning. thanks.

Okay, I have created a new web and imported my pages from my current web. Some of the pages do not have the theme, some do not have the navigation buttons. Some have the theme on the navigation buttons, but the background is white. How do I correct this? Is there any way to delete an imported page? When I tried to close the page and start over the whole web closed. One of the pages I imported brought me back to the url for the old (current) web. I wish I could find out how to delete some of that old "stuff" and start over again. Thanks for any assistance you can give me.
