multiple field search on ASP pages - 3/27/2002 11:48:47
My last question was rediculous I appologize.
This is not. On page 1, I am displaying data from a database connection which includes 2 text fields in the search criteria. i.e. first_name and last_name.

I am now creatig a hyperlink from page 2 to search a number field on page 1 using the unique ID of the record from page two. When I add a new field to the search criteria which contains a number, the DRW asks me for which type of match and I enter "exact", because my choices are limitied to number related choices in the DRW, and I execute the hyperlink from page 2 everything works fine. When I do a search without the hyperlink from page two I get a database error because I have not specified a value for the new field in the search criteria requireing a unique number.

Is there a way, other than creating a new ASP page, for this specific search to configure the search criteria for the field using a unique number to apply a wild card type search or ignore an empty search field when not using a record with a unique ID?

Not very easy to explain this. Thanks
