tterrifc -> Web Site Down (4/4/2002 13:05:14)

Yesterday morning one of our customers contacted us to say one of my sites were down. All they got was a full blue page with a message for the owner of the account to contact them regarding an update of the account and to get the new login info from them or check my postal email.

Well, there was no "postal email" from them. I have emailed them without response. I finally got the phone number and called. The message was to all web site owners informing them that they were in the process of updating their network and all sites would be up in a few hours (3 p.m. yesterday).

This morning no site, again, so I called again, new message says, "Leave a detailed message and your web site domain name and we'll get back to you asap." Did my ISP go out of business? Does anyone else on this forum use this company? This is so annoying!

Caywind: It's nice you replied. Thank you. I still don't have any answers. I remember another thread where someone else was having a problem. Trouble is, how do you really know when it's a problem. 1, 2 or 3 days. This morning I can't get them at all. I mean the server isn't responding today. No one is getting back to me either.

Terry,

I tried going to the site & site is not coming up.

Went to netcraft http://www.netcraft.co.uk/ & put in thathostingcompany.com
- they are listed. But I do not think it will help much.

I am able to ping the site:
quote:

Ping complete.

Do you have a copy of the site? If you have to move it quick it will help.

Erin

Erinatkins,

Wow, you are way above me. I have a copy of the site in FrontPage. Is that what you mean? I understand "pinging" but don't know how to do it. Does that mean they still exist? Forgive me, but I don't know this stuff. Earlier today the site still was not coming up, but just checked it and they come up with a message that they are currently offline and our site is coming up with the same blue page and same message again. I just phoned again and get leave a message we'll get right back to you however no one has yet and don't expect it anymore. Thanks all for taking the time to research it for me. I will be making a change as soon as I can.

Terry, three days is unacceptable. websites and networks need to be up. all the time.

I bet you could find some good cheap hosting right here in this board...

Whatever the problem is they are having, even if it is legit, they have already committed an unpardonable sin. They took your site down without prior notification.

I guess it goes without saying you need a new host.

I read these horror stories all the time on this board and count my blessings that this sort of thing never happens with my company. Our server jocks always notifiy us whenever there's going to be scheduled down time, or if there's been a problem. I guess I'm lucky!

I hope this helps...

Thanks to all of you. I'm looking now. I knew deep down it was a bad thing. I was just trying to give them a chance. NO MORE.
