PWS - unloading it - 4/8/2002 12:00:07
I have win 2000 pro running and need to get rid of PWS. How do I do it? Any clues anyone? On add/remove and windows components I just can't see it there for removal. I have tried removing FP2000 but that does not do it. Help going mad. Steve ----------------------- Don't be leftbehind.com

The install or uninstall of PWS is through the PWS setup control. there-in you will need either the setup cd for w2k or the download which is at Microsoft. Here is a method for the procedure ... I had problems with PWS 4, and here is what I had to do to make it work...it appeared that the problem was caused by the uninstall leaving some files on the hard drive. MS says it is intentional....? All of this procedure assumes that you are just setting up the server and have everything you want backed up... (note: many of the the PWS install files say IIS###, I think it is a "crippled" version of IIS4 or 5???. my order of uninstall may be incorrect? ) - Uninstall the FP extensions. Its in Program files--> frontpage-->fpsrvwin.exe
- Uninstall PWS, (in the PWS install, wherever you have that...
- go to Program Files-->Microsoft Frontpage-->Version3.0, delete this folder
- search for *fp03*.*. delete
- search for *www*.* if the folder exists delete, search for inetpub (folder), delete
important! if you have any webs in those folders, they will be deleted. copy, or move but before you do, read this...http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q181744 <spellcheck> </spellcheck>
