ready for criticism... - 4/11/2002 10:27:11
Hi,
I've just finished a basic site for my dad's company. I put this together because he got skinned by a 'professional' web designer, who designed a website that took over 5 minutes to open the index page!

I'd like to know what you think: it's meant to be simple and easy to access, but hopefully informative too.

I'm ready for the criticism...

The site is:

www.defensive-driving.co.uk

Thanks very much for any feedback,

Darren

Hi Darren,

Not bad. It is certainly clean and simple. I think you went a little too far with minimalism. Remember, "content" is extremely important to your visitors and to the search engines. I would suggest filling it in a bit. Add some more pertinent details to your pages. Answer a few more questions as to the cost of your services, etc. Otherwise, you are off to a nice start. Good Job!

I would put the title at the top of the page on a graphic with a different colour background that stretches across the width of the page, I think is looks neater as large text has the "aliasing" problem, i.e. looks fuzzy. Also I think the text is too large but as there is not much text on the page I can see why you did that. Not a bad start though. Keep looking at sites you admire and try to find out how things are done, possibly by asking in this forum. Most of us are self-taught and learnt by looking and learning.

Look after #1 and don´t step in #2.

Looks nice...

I would save your logo as a gif. That few colors should always be a gif. It will eliminate that smeary look your getting from the jpg compression.

Nice Job..
