zebthepilot -> Set Home page in navigation (4/15/2002 12:05:22)
hey I'm switching servers from apache (on my computer) to my school's servers. for stupid reasons ISU's servers set the index page as homepage.html and nothing else.
when I try to set homepage.html as the home page of my web in FP2002 it renames it. how can I tell the navigation to not do this and still have it set as homepage for my navigation structure links?
Please help
zeb

Hi,
Just call your host and specify to them the name of your "home" page. In IIS you can choose, have multiples listed and choose default order.

zeb, what is ISU?
It's a fairly simple thing to add more "default" names for the index page.

ISU = Iowa State University. and they will not add other default page values. I'm not an complete idiot I tried that. they claim it's a security feature. it's a bunch of mac users running IT and coming up with stupid hoops to make the user jump through.

so nevertheless any ideas?
right now I've got a file at homepage.html and index.html. both homepage and index are frames pages that load main.htm and linksframe.htm so it's not a huge deal but when anyone clicks the home link at the side or bottom of any page it reloads both frames.
it's the only way I could figure to make it happen without a redirect which I don't want.
so yah... any ideas I looked and I can't find anything to change the default file name in FP'02 navigation. could it somehow be done in server configuration on the web properties?
