Request Review Please - 4/18/2002 3:01:55
Hi, I'm new here and I'm a do-it-yourselfer web designer for my company web site at http://www.austinlandlord.com. I like the idea of feedback from those outside my industry on the appearance and layout of my site and hope some of you will take a look. Please let me know ... 1) does it load ok? I just installed a free web stats thing which I plan to leave up just for a month (blue balls bottom left of each page) but now it seems to load slow. 2) Is it too plain? I personally don't like sites with too many moving parts. I do have some rotating photos on the faqs page though. 3) Any general feedback/opinions will be appreciated and condidered. Thanks Steve www.AustinLandlord.com

Generally speaking, you've got a nice site going there. Many people will apreciate you keeping the distractions to a minimum. Just a few simple changes will help your site look more professional. Your font sizes are too big on some pages then too small on others. I'm primarily refering to the links. 2(10pt) is probably the most common font size on the web. Getting some consistency there will help. The other thing that would make it look more professional in my opinion is to not use any of the FrontPage picture border options. No outline, no picture frame, etc.. If you want an outline, it will look a lot better if it's done in a gaphics program. " as God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly."

I'm glad you mentioned the picture borders. The FP loaded at home puts the border there when I auto-thumbnail, but the one at my office doesn't. I don't want the border but can't figure out how to make it stop doing it. Probably something easy.

To change the border on auto thumbnail: Tools> Page Options >AutoThumbnail. I like your site. I'm not a fan of Times New Roman, really prefer verdana or arial but that's my preference. The only thing really lacking are Return to top links on your For Rent and For Sale pages. You kept it simple - GREAT job!

EWD I have used your instructions to change the thumbnail border. Alas! To no avail. Enjoy!

Charles - On the thumbnail pic, right click. Choose Picture Properties --> Appearance and then set Border Properties to Zero. Rangler Anyone know where I can get my black & white TV fixed?
