Umm... html? :) What exactly are you wishing to do? If its client side, javascript isnt reliant on platform and may be what you are after. When you talk server side, then you need to be clear on what you need. Some apaches run asp/vbscript others dont. Some NT's run PHP, others dont §þððk¥ Database / DRW Q & A VP-ASP Shopping cart Spooky Login

Thnaks Spooky. You are right. I missed my target with that question! HTML, yes. The deal is, my employer has decided to go ALL Microsoft {example, Windows 2000 Server/IIS}. I would like to write my pages in a way that they can be used server side on IIS and/or Apache. Really would like to pull the text from a database, then serve it up. What language {php?} is most popular for this? As you can tell, i am new to this. Was "promoted" from tech support to Web Master in one day. But REALLY am having fun with it! The most popular scripting language (for CGI - DB connection, etc.) is by far PERL Gil Harvey The Host Factory Resellers are our Specialty Find a Web Professional

I would second the vote for Perl, it may not be new or cutting edge but it gets many jobs done efficiently and well. It is also relatively easy to learn, especially to an extent that will allow you to adapt the many, many excellent and often inexpensive scripts already available to just about any end. As to platforms - most perl developers develop primarily for Unix rather than NT, but many develop for both and Perl will run happily on either. On an NT/W2K (ASP) server VB/VBS is by far the most popular. Although, that may be changing as .NET rolls out more. Since your employer has gone totally Microsoft then you should think about using VB. If you are ever looking for support topics about ASP/ADO easily 99% of the examples are currently in VB/VBS. Joe
