g-john -> IIS (4/22/2002 5:46:06)

I tried running IIS on Windows XP (from CD)
and after installation when i click on start from IIS properties it says "The service has not been started" and sure i cant access 127.0.0.1

My drive is FAT formated. Is it necessary that to run IIS.. NTFS is required???

XP Pro I assume? NTFS is not needed For IIS but I would recommend it. Check in the Control pane under Computer Management>>services and see if IIS is running.

no its not.
I tried restarting and even stopped and tried starting but all that i get is an error saying
"Service has not been started"

Anyone know why

Try going into the services app of the control panel. Try to start the service manually. It is usually at the bottom, labeled Web Publishing Service (something like that).
