What does 'file sharing turned off' mean? - 5/1/2002 21:29:57
Q. What does 'file sharing turned off' mean? Problem background: I have been trying unsuccessfully to publish via the free www.tripod.com service. Tripod states that in the free service 'file sharing is turned off'. Thanks for your assistance! Spinningjennie

Hi, Do you have a URL to where they state that to see what it relates to? In the PC world file sharing could mean that you are on a Windows based workstation and have networking modules loaded. File and print sharing reffer to the PC allowing others to use those services which if yoiur not on a network you should turn this off A.S.A.P. as it allows others easier access to your PC. However I do not think that is what they are relating to. My guess is they mean you can not host a file on their server and call it from an outside domain. Just thinking out loud on this one. Reflect, url that refers to file sharing is at: http://www.tripod.lycos.com/subscriptions/index.html I'm afraid I don't understand the following statement: quote: My guess is they mean you can not host a file on their server and call it from an outside domain.
PS I have finally managed to publish to Tripod, by publishing a very simple site, though don't understand what I've done differently this time. With thanks, Spinningjennie
