Transparent Gifs not converting - 5/4/2002 0:03:29
Lately I am having problems with my Frontpage 2002 converting my clips to transparent gifs. I've noticed it maintly with the Clips I import form the Microsoft Online Gallery. I use the transparent tool and it displays in the normal mode as transparent to the background, but when I publish and view it online, it hasn't converted. Thanks, Elaine

Try this. Most of them, I've given a white background until I can figure this out. This one shows what is usually happening with a colored background. http://www.mediaphysics.com/sh/hp/outorgs.htm Thanks,Elaine

I'm stumped as to why it would seem to work but not show correctly. When you use the transparency tool and then save the page, does it show it overwriting the previous image? As soon as you save the page you can check what the page looks like by using File > Preview in Browser. Linda Edited by - LB on 05/05/2002 13:03:24

Yes, it says it's overwriting the picture file (with the new transparent gif, I assumed). It has worked for years, but now doesn't, but it seems just for the MS Online Clips. It displays as transparent when I do the preview and the view in browser, but not when published. Thanks for your help, Elaine

Have you tried just inserting those clips and not using the transparency tool? Some of the MS clips already have transparent backgrounds, though they may not look like it when you first insert them. No clue here why making them transparent used to work and now doesn't. You might try reinstalling FP. Do you have an image program you could use if that doesn't work? Linda

swyt - I'm leaving town for a week this morning, but if you don't have a solution soon, e-mail me the graphics and I'll cut the background and send you back the transparent .gif when I return home.

Thank you for the offer but that would mean sending you the dozens of graphics a day that I need corrected. I've reinstalled FP. I've converted the graphics in Photoshop but they still have white backgrounds when published. I'll ask MS again if they have any ideas what is causing this, meantime. Againk thanks for your assistance. I'll post whatever I find out. Elaine
