Swish - 5/14/2002 17:12:37
I used Swish version 1 and then 1.5 - always found Flash to be such a steep learning curve. I downloaded a trial of Swish 2 - I'm beginning to wish I hadn't bothered - does anyone find it harder to use than the previous swish versions?

(I have to admit though, the latest version is much more power packed)

I've never used another version, but I found that v2 was very easy to learn. Just keep in mind the "timeline" feature in the top pane... that tells you where you are in the movie.

Then you just add text and images, telling them what to do with the effects, and how long to do it with the properties of each effect.

I highly recommend printing out the help files, it fills up a 1" binder but is well worth the paper and printer ink!

I've never used Flash, or any other animation tool... Swish just takes a little getting used to, and some playing around to get a "feel" for it.

What is it about Swish that you find difficult?

Check out their forums at swishzone.com - might be helpful!

I think you answered your own question. In order for the product to get better they needed to add some features that are a little more complicated. Keep practicing and it will become easier and will be well worth it.

I hesitated in purchasing 2.0 because it looked much tougher to learn. But, all the templates and freebies that are out there are done in 2.0, so I gave in. I am really not good in this area, but you can see how much more can be done in 2.0 and there are alot of freebies out there that you can modify and learn from.
