I have tried in vain to set up working Access DB connectivity, with website pages that work. ODBC seems to set up in a straightfoward manner. Using wizards in FP2002, or Access97 to insert database results don't work. At my business location I am on Windows 2000 Pro operating system, and at home Windows XP, with an operating PWS. Under either situation, the best I come up with is a portrayal on a page that shows placeholders for the database result, but non-operating. Is there a fool-proof procedure for the setup? I have tried MS Frontpage 2002 Servers and Extensions admin guide.
Do I need to use Sharepoint Team Services to "Extend" the FP Server Extensions? Is Access97 not compatible for wizard use? Is it important to position the database in the _fpdb folder in order to work, or can it be located anywhere on the server?

Any help will be welcomed... I've been experimenting with this stuff for over a year with only limited success with is not reproducible.

Frank, there are others who are much more "WIN" server experienced than I. But, AFAIK, Access97 isn't very compatible with FP and I 'think' it is important for the DB to be in the _fpdb directory. An d, I see no reason you would need the sharepoint services.

Do you use database security?
I have also had problems connecting to an Access 97 database with FP2000 but my database has sharing and user logins.
You can get FP2000 to work with Access 97 and the best place for the database is in the _fpdb folder.
Dont think that you will need Sharepoint Team Services .
Have you tried the 'Northwind' database that comes with Access 97 and does that work OK?

I have only tried non-secure databases, but I suspect this will not have any effect, since the SQL statement in the page simulates the queries by its statement, and security is theoretically not suppose to matter.

You're right I don't need Sharepoint.
Although I haven't tried Northwind, I have tried several others. The particular Database doesn't seem to matter.

What's interesting is that a simple no-parameter query works or simply displaying a table. But I get into trouble when I have to specify a parameter in a form at the top of the page. I get error messages claiming syntax errors in either the SQL line or one of the lines in the output spec portion of the code in dbrgn2. I could understand it if I made a syntax error in SQL statement (although it is FP's wizard that is committing that crime). I can't find a good reference as to syntax you are supposed to use within asp code. I would edit after using the wizard if I knew what the correct syntax was.
