In the Properties Settings for a graphic in FP 2000, what exactly are "Progressive Passes," and what are some guidelines for setting this property?

If a picture is in JPEG format, you can specify the quality of the JPEG by entering a value from 1 to 100 in the Quality box. In the Progressive passes box, enter the number of progressive passes you want Web browsers to make.
Note Some Web browsers do not support progressive passes.

aren't progressive passes where the picture is downloaded in stages...ie one part is rendered then the process goes back up to the top and renders the next part, then back to the top, etc. Nonetheless, it's old technology and bound to die as broadband gets more coverage....
