Well here we go... This is my first site ever created it in January(which is about to go under a little restructuring soon) http://www.valleyofthesundogrescue.com
Here is my second site which has been up since Feb http://www.dark-bane.com
The "photogallery and roster pages" are currently updated/created by someone else as I am no longer active enough to keep up with updates that need to be done on the spot at times. Anyhow enough rambling from me, let me know what you all think.

I visited www.valleyofthesundogrescue.com. First thoughts.
Perhaps extend the title bar full width, maybe a bit taller, (more of the red), and see how the title looks placed higher so it's backlight by the red sky.
You mention you're no longer affiliated with the Tuscon group. Helpful it you were to add some links or phone numbers to them as a courtesy.
A table of contents, near the top, where you hyperlink to the key items would make a search for a particular item go faster. This would be below the great "dog biscuits" and the bit of text below that.
The special needs area is a real heart breaker. Keep that prominent, as you do, it should help with the donations.
Regards, Scotty
