I have a page on our site that lists our products, I would like for the user to click on the product to pull up our specification sheet which is a word doc, how do I go about this? I know it will be an easy answer for all of you.

If you aren't looking to have that Word doc look like the rest of your site (colors, navigation, images, etc) I would still recommend saving that document as an .htm file and uploading that. You could either add a "Back" link to the originating page, or have it open in a new window. I'd recommend the former.

I suggest this since not everybody is going to have MS Word on their machine, nor will they be using IE (which would be the easiest interface for reading a Word doc off the web). Although Word writes horrid html, this should work just fine for you, provided the document doesn't have a ton of formatting such as images, tables, etc.

If you create an new .htm document for each Word document, I would suggest copying the Word document then pasting it into Notepad first. Then copy from Notepad to FP. Trust me...this sounds like more work but it will save you time in the long run. Copying and pasting directly from Word to FP can cause some wierd things to happen!

Instead, you may want to look at converting the files to .pdf format using Adobe Acrobat. Then you could link to the .pdf file and when the link is clicked, the browser will automatically launch Adobe Reader (if it is installed on the user's computer). This way you could leave your document formatting the same and they would be much more "printer friendly". Be sure to add a link to Adobe Reader for the visitors that don't have it already installed, although I think almost everyone has Reader installed by now because .pdf files are so common.
