DNS - 5/22/2002 20:33:10
I have read all of the dns articles on this site but i am still confused. I am wanting to set up my own web server and have w2000 server. I am getting cable and a static ip soon but how do I get dns to point to my domain name. Any help would be appreciated.

If your cable provider also provides DNS services, then you will jut tell them what IP you want your domain to point to. Otherwise, you will need to get your DNS services somewhere else. It's required that two nameservers be identified for your domain name. You can run your own if a) you have two nameserver boxes available 24x7 and b) your cable provider allows you to run your own DNS. If you only have one or two domains www.zoneedit.com offers free DNS. I've had good luck with them. ====== Doug G ======
