AlS -> Having problems with counters & forms on my site.... (4/11/2001 16:56:00)

Adding some information to my site and noticed that the hit counter on the home page had reset to 000001. Then discovered that if I put anything into any of my forms (there are about 10 or so), that I would get a "Front Page Error" message coming up. (Even though the information will actually come through to my e-mail program.) My webhost is saying that I need to "recalculate my hyperlinks". They've apparently done this twice at their end and it has reset the counter and "fixed" the forms. I recalculated once and republished and the counters went back to 0 and I had the same problem with the forms. The webhost company has recalculated again and "fixed" everything. I'm afraid if I add more stuff to my site this afternoon and republish, I'll have the same problem over again.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. My website is www.bassboatcentral.com Thanks.....

Could really use some help on this problem if someone has the answer. I'm completely stumped. I have a bunch of things that I have to add to the site tomorrow and I'm betting that as soon as I publish I'm going to find that my counters reset to 0 and my forms don't work properly. If I go into Tools-WebSettings-General and check, I find that it gives me the FrontPage Server Extensions version, but under Server Version it says "No server currently in use". I hate to ask a stupid question, but does this make sense or should it be showing details on my webhost company's server?
Thanks........

I just submitted the feedback form and everything seems to be working fine. Counter seems OK also.

Hi Gil:
Everything is working properly at the moment because my web host recalculated the hyperlinks. They did it earlier today when I had the problem then I published some new material and the problem was back. It appeared to me to be a problem with the server extensions and asked them to doublecheck that it wasn't on their end. They recalculated the hyperlinks again and fixed it again. They're saying that everything is perfect at their end and the problem is definitely with my software. I haven't touched any of my forms or counters recently so I don't have a clue what the problem is. I had told them that I recalculated the hyperlinks (until today didn't even know there was such a thing), and then republished and the problem was back.
Is there anything special that I have to do, (a special procedure), to recalculate the hyperlinks?? Appreciate your help on this.
Al.

Al, as I'm sure you understand, its hard to troubleshoot whgen everything is working

If it does it again, post and maybe we can find something amiss. But, I honestly suspect the problem is a host that doesn't understand the FP extensions and how to configure them properly....

Left out one part in my previous reply.
I had told the webhost that I had recalculated the hyperlinks and then republished. They said that I had done it backwards, that I should publish and then if the problem is there I should recalculate. This part puzzles me, don't I have to make this change and then republish to have it take effect on the site? Apparently the internet connection has to be on when I make this recalculation; I'm a bit lost as to how it's working if I don't then republish. What am I missing here?? I'm assuming that when I republish tomorrow I'm going to have the counters and forms messed up again, (they're working fine at the moment). Help

Hi Gil: I didn't realize that you had posted a reply while I was typing my last reply.
I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's ok when I republish tomorrow. I've had the site up for a year and have republished basically every day and this is the first time that this has happened. Thanks........
