Simple Swish question - 5/25/2002 9:12:38
How do I get a swish file to not repeat when loaded to a webpage?

Thanks,
Mike

I don't recall the exact step by step procedure but it's in the manual under using a "preloader". There's a preloader function that will cause the flash file to look at the temp files on a person's computer to see if they already have the file in case they had visited before. You use the "if" funtion and tell it to "skip the preloader" if it sees that the file is already in the temp cashe. I guess you could use that same function to tell it to go to a "stop" action somewhere in the movie just as easily if it sees it in the cashe. I haven't tried it but it would seem logical. Of course if someone has emptied their cashe (I empty mine every week or so) then they're going to have it play through again. That's why it's important to have a "skip intro" link for them. Hope that helps.

Sorry, Bill, I guess I didn't word my question right. It's a simple text animation. I want it to stay there after it fades in, for as long as you view that webpage.

Thanks,
Mike

Since you already have it on a web page, in the HTML code just change the loop="true" to loop="false"

Another alternative is to open the Swish file, go to the end of the movie, and insert the Stop action.

The movie will stop when it reaches that point and just remain static.

If you don't specify a Stop it will continually loop...
