My www.edinphoto.org.uk site is hosted by FastHosts, who give me a good summary of the accesses made to the site.

Most of the accesses are to .htl and .jpg files, to pages and images that I recognise. But occasionally, I see that there is a visitor doing something with dll files - perhaps downloading a few Mb in a few minutes.

What is happening? Is it something I need to know about and perhaps consider preventing?

I have reproduced a copy of part of one of these logs below.

anything that resides an a folder called "_vti" is a part of the Frontpage extensions, and needs to be there for Frontpage to work. Accesses to these folders are made when someone is working on the site.

Can you suggest what sort of action might have been happening? I am the only person who updates the site, and I was not working on it.

I did not notice any differences to the site after the vti messages were logged.

now i'm curious. could be time for a call to the ISP. I know they don't like it but you might try this post over in the server forum

Thanks for the suggestion. Before I post a message on a Server Forum, can you clarify a couple of poins for me?

1. Are you refering to the OutFront Server Forum (as opposed to a Server Forum on my FastHosts site - if they have one?

2. You mention that they don't like this sort of question. Is that because they prefer to deal with the issues raised by the people who act as hosts, rather than their customers?

3. Is it better for me to summarise the question and response to date on the Server Forum, or better to merely to refer (if possible providing a link) to this correspondence on the Beginners' Forum?
