Servlets - anybody - 5/29/2002 12:27:10
Anybody got anything to say about Servlets? I want to use CD-Spy Server on one of my sites - http://www.spy-server.com/ - it's just what I need, but I am having trouble finding a Host in the UK that understands. Any ideas? Thanks.

Java servlets? I would much sooner go with Java than anything MS (VB, ActiveX, .NET, the list goes on and on). Fight the Spam! http://awebmasters.net/antispam.htm Edited by - caywind on 05/30/2002 12:57:21

Servlets are a Java technology. By design, Java is many times more secure than any of the Microsoft technologies, and those are: VB visual basic, ActiveX (avoid at all costs), and the new .NET technology, which already has been found to have security flaws. These Microsoft Technologies could leave your website, or your server vulnerable to attacks by hackers, and that gets ugly. The tool that you referenced looks pretty good, if it's free, then give it a try. As always make sure that you have adequate back-ups before attempting anything you are not sure of...
