Confirmation form troubles - please help! - 4/11/2001 23:58:00
Hi,

When entering a name(usermane field)into the page..http://www.canyousell.net.cnchost.com/namesend2.htm and submit the page, I get an automatic confirmation page, instead of being redirected to this page..http://www.canyousell.net.cnchost.com/namereceive2.htm where the username entered should appear.

This is the URL I entered in the form properties.

When I press the click here to enter button I only get the default confirmation page.

What am I doing wrong? I appreciate your feedback.

Thank you

Herman

Hi Vision,

I tried going to the URL that you posted and got a 404/not found.

You might want to check the forms confirmation page setting. You can do this by going to the page in "normal view". Right click on the form, choose form properties. Then click on options. Then click on the tab that says "confirmation page". There will be an option for "URL of confirmtation page". Just browse to the page that you want the form to go to after hitting the submit button.

Hope this helps,

Brian

Yes, I did that already but still get the default confirmation page.

Try accessing again (I just republished) to look for errors

Thank you

404 error at www.canyousell.net.cnchost.com also.

Take a look at the source code on the published form page to make sure this is set to send to your confirmation page. If it's not, edit live.

You might try recalculating hyperlinks. (?)
It can't hurt.

Thanks Linda,

I don;t know why you can't access the site (I can). Also the I have inserted the exact URL on my form for the confirmation page but still only get the default conf page.

I checked the source code URL and it is exact also.

Other ideas?

Thank you
Herman

Hi Vision,

Got to it this time. I am stumped. I viewed your source cosde and it is not going to the page you specified.

This is not great advice but when I get to this point myself I start over with a blank page.

Thanks Brian for the tip - actually what you suggested a couple of times over the last day and no luck.

I used JS to get jump to the next page but still can't get the name inserted to next page.

Is their a Javascript that I can use to have the name automatically inserted to next page (like the confirmation form)? If so how would I insert it so it won't conflict with the JS I already have?

Thanks a bunch!

Herman

Go to the form properties, click on the confirmation tab and then browse to the page in question.

Hope this helps.

I'd try a basic sample form on another page and see if you can get it to go to the custom confirmation page. If that doesn't work, contact your host and see if there's something on their end.

Thanks Linda - the basic conf. form works (http://www.canyousell.net.cnchost.com/test.htm)but still can't see why it wouldn't work on the pages created above.

Could I amend the JS I have to make it work along with the pop up page?

Thank you
Herman

Since the basic form will work on another page, I'd recreate your form here (you can use the wizard and copy/paste), test, then "save as" to overwrite the page that's giving you fits.

Thank you Linda for trying to help (and giving encouragement).

Finally got it to work! Whew!! I don't know what I did that was different but it was the right advice. Built up a couple of test pages

http://www.canyousell.net.cnchost.com/test.htm with all the pop ups which my friend wanted (though I hate them)and everything works together.

Another question:
What is the best way for 2 people to work on a site who both have FP2000?

Because when he makes changes, it messes up the code and viceversa. I now make duplicates of the original pages, so that I can add his changes without him messing with my code - my 2 cents!

Thanks again
Warm Regards
Herman

Well, FP has source control, but if you are on seperate computers (not networked) then I don't believe it works.
