web graphics - 5/31/2002 12:16:46
I have recently taken over a site that is very concerned about folks copying images and I know that there is a method to stop folks from doing this. Can someone direct to the proper method to not allow copying of graphics. Thanks.

kk,
There's not much you can do to stop someone from copying your pics from a page on your site. You can add a script which will disable the "right click" and copying of your graphics. But that is just one avenue of taking pics from a site. That also disables other features that a visitor may use the "right click" for. So that could annoy your visitors. Basically, if you put a graphic up, and someone wants to copy it, they can. You can prevent them from taking it certain ways but certainly not make it impossible.

Swoosh is right. There are a couple of threads in this forum related to this exact issue. I should say issues because disabling right click is a no-no and you cannot prevent people from taking your images. Read the thread about watermarks...that could help you if they are true artistic images, but no help if it's part of the design. I wouldn't want watermarks all over my designs.

I don't know if this will help. You can add water marks to graphics. I know you an do it in Paintshop Pro and Photoshop.
