What does the Tutorial mean? - 5/31/2002 13:16:10
I am trying to set permissions on web site. When I go to FP tools>Security, ,my security is grayed out. I've read the excerpt below from the tutorial on this site, but I don't understand what the following paragraph means.

The Security Menu

Your FP Tools > Security menu (which brings up the dialog you use to set permissions for webs and subwebs) may be grayed out. It is always grayed out on local webs because you don't set permissions for a web on your local computer. You can only set permissions on a site or a subweb by opening the live site or subweb and then doing Tools > Security > Permissions. You can open your hosted site the same way you open a local site. File > Open Web > Type in http://www.url.com.

The Security menu will also be grayed out if you do not have Admin level permission to your web. Unix hosts typically grant Admin level permissions. NT hosts often do not

You must be connected to the server to set permissions. Open your site live in FP and the option should be available to you.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all your help. Is there a menu option to open the site "live" from FP?
