Web Themes - 6/5/2002 21:23:52
Okay to make our website a bit more exciting I applied a theme to it. While previewing it everything looks fine, but after I have FTP'd it up to our Verizon site the theme doesn't carry over. The background is just white and the navigation buttons are x'd out. The site is: faithbsv.org if anyone wants to take a look and give me some tips. Thanks!

Can't FTP. use publish from Frontpage so that the upload process is certain to get everything up there

When I try to Publish through FP, I get the following message: The server you are publishing to does not have the FrontPage Server Extensions installed, and therefore does not support publishing via HTTP. TO continue publishing specifiy a location that will work with FTP. ???????????

You either need a server that has the extensions or not use FP themes.

You would have to use some way other than FP themes for it to work. FP themes require FP extensions

I just spoke with Verizon and they say that they do support FP, so why won't it take??? Is there a part of the theme that I am not sending via FTP?

you can not FTP if you want to use a FP theme, you have to publish. if verizon says they support FP extensions and you cannot connect to publish then there is something else wrong. you more then likly blew away the extentions when you FPT'ed the first time and verizon may have to re-install them for your site

OK- my two cents:

I use KissFP to strip out the FrontPage extra stuff. What I get is html pages with everything in it. I then use CuteFTP and the pages are fine.

I also tried just using CuteFTP on a FP2000 web page and putting it on a server with no FP extensions and that works also.

hope that helps someone.
