Is it possible to stack individuals tables side by side, not just one on top of another? If so, how? I find some loss of controlling text in a table that's divided into three columns so I thought perhaps side by side tables would do the trick. I'm developing a classified ad section and would like three independent columns.

You can't stack tables side by side, but you can "nest" them. Putting tables inside of other tables to control your text flow and formatting. Be careful of too much nesting for it slows down the loading time of your page.

Could I make one table with three columns then insert a table within each column?

Or, is there a better way to go about this?

Yes, you can do that.

You can also use cell spacing and padding to accomplish what you want. Here is a quick example of a 3 column table using spacing and padding to get the effect I think you want:

Thanks Rangler! It's exactly what I want.

My particular problem when I do this is that the text begins having a mind of it's own. I'll insert text in the first, left column and it will be correctly placed at the beginning (top). Then I'll insert text in the second (middle)column and it moves the text down in the first column so there is a big gap at the top. No matter what I do, I can't get the text back to the top.

Please recall that I don't yet know html and rely on FrontPage.

Any other suggestions?

Set your cell properties to be vertically aligned to the top. Right click on each cell and choose cell properties. You will see the alignment property options.

Right click on your cells of the table and choose cell properties. Set your horizontal and vertical alignments.

If the cell alignment doesn't do what you want this is where the table nested in each column might help. You can also set the nested table at a % of the original column and use cell padding to achieve different spacings.
