Deleting Domains - 6/6/2002 14:24:29
I can't see the forest for the trees on this one...

My client had their host changed (actually it was a merger). The new host has FP extensions.

I want to open the site live, but it won't let me. It seems to recognize the / at the end of the domain. Even when I take then out, it puts in back in.

It worked fine with the old host, but based on the error message, the new host doesn't like this. How can I get rid of the / after the end of the domain?

It doesn't look like it's there, but it is!

In particular, it seems to be adding the URL from the Web Name drop down box since I've deleted the domain from my network places.

The error message is "The folder http://www.domainname.com/ isn't accessible. The folder may be located in an unavailable location, protected with a password, or the filename containes a/ or \."

Nancy, the leading / is a part of the URI.

Is your Index page named "index" or "default"? Check with the new hosat, you may have to rename the index page.

Thanks for your help. Turns out the host needed to reset the password. Unfortunately it took several hours and phone calls to correct the situation.

I read stuff like this and it makes me thank my lucky stars for a great reseller account with a great host! Thanks, Gil!
