Also, to get some of those two liners on to one in the contributor list, consider chaning "Vice Chair" to "V. Chair." The abbreviation is not uncommon.

Webbedfeet, I first saw your site about a week ago and I just took another peek - wow - big improvements.

You are doing great and your critics have been very supportive in your endeavor - that' s cool.

Peace

Hi Webbedfeet,
I like your Front page, especially the selection of the photos, it would get me to either read more or click on something which is the main idea of the front page, which would hopefully get him elected!

I agree with one of the previous replies to not have any page coming off a link that says " under construction" .
Other than that, the site looks pretty good!

Hey Webbedfeet site is looking good,
One thing I noticed is at the bottom of the Main page you have an animated gif as a link to a email address but underneath it where you actually have the address typed out it is not a link. Since it was Blue and Underlined I found myself hovering over it expecting it to be linked to the email address.
Also the Blue on Blue is hard to read.

We are re-doing this site, as he is now running for a different office. My problem is that when I look at it in my browser, everything looks great. When I go to anybrowser.com it looks all messed, and a collegue sees completely different problems from his browser.
How do I fix all this? I don' t understand how or why Frontpage will show it looking one way and not put it on the site that way. grrrr [:@]
please help.
thanks. the site again is http://www.dollinger2002.com

web,

Was this site done in FrontPage entirely? I noticed in your code that you have a class like the following, which is referenced many times:

p class=" MsoNormal" style=" line-height:

Did you copy and paste information from Microsoft Office Word or another Office application? Doing so, would explain why your having different displays on different browsers/systems

I.M.Learning -> RE: RE: will you please critique my site? (8/28/2002 17:20:36)

Webbed, Sounds like you' ve gotten some great input from lots of folks! Keep up the good work! My first impression when I looked at your site on an 800x600 resolution is that the logo image is very jaggedy....not very crisp - I think that will detract from the professional look you' re wanting. BY NO MEANS am I a graphic art person, but I like to learn & play in PSP7 so I made a similar logo but tried to clean it up a bit - - see what you think.

One thing I' m thinking is that maybe your graphic was 170x132 pixels originally, and then did you possibly resize it in Frontpage? (your source code shows a larger size but when I copied the pic it was 170x132...) maybe if you resized it in FP that' s what caused the jagged edges - I don' t know. (same with his head shot - did you resize it in FP? if so, you always have to resize in an image program and then re-import to FP or else you don' t get the benefit of faster load times. - someone correct me if I' m wrong!!)

One other thing - and this may just be me...having never seen your site before, when I clicked on the links at the bottom, my screen stayed the same, so I clicked on another link & it stayed the same, so on & so on......Then I realized that just below what I could see on my ' main' viewing area was changing when I clicked a link - so I then scrolled down...What if you moved the red/blue logo up & smaller just a tad and allowed a bit of the text to show from what ever page the user is on? This way user can tell as he/she' s navigating around your site?

Maybe on the home page for the text below the logo you could have the beginning of the " Dear Friends" letter...say the 1st paragraph, and then a ' more' link to let the user click to read on...this keeps the page pretty but gives them a taste. Or, if it' s just that you' re wanting to keep his picture & logo right up front, why not make a similar/smaller version of that to have as an include at the top left side of every page? Then your links could actually go to a different page, but each page would have his pic & logo...maybe something like the 2nd image I' m including (rough idea).

Oops, here' s the other rough sample of a smaller image you might consider for using on the linked pages (if you' re wanting to keep his pic & logo right up front with each new page)..

webbedfeet -> RE: RE: will you please critique my site? (8/29/2002 9:49:18)

wow, thank you all for the comments, and for the images, I.M. Learning.
I will try to look at all of this and see what I can fix. You are right, I stretched the images in FP, so I will try to redo that, and I might use your images if they let me!
I did, to answer your q swoosh, I think start my original web in publisher. Then someone pointed me to FP, so I imported it, as best I could, and now I just copy my pages and tweak them to get each individual site and page. Can I go into the html and get rid of those ref' s? Will that clear up the browser/viewing problems?
Thanks everyone.

webbedfeet,

When bringing anything from Office documents, always copy and paste to WordPad or NotePad and then copy to your Frontpage document. This removes all extraneous formatting that will cause unpredictable problems.

I noticed that the dear candidate' s image on the home page is about to fall out of the table on the right when viewed in Opera 6.02 and NN 7.0 (Yep! It' s new).

The whole page fell apart in NN 4.76.

In all browsers, there is no cell padding to keep the text within bounds on the right side. The ends of the text is truncated on the right by an average of four characters.

An aside: When I installed NN 7.0, I tried to keep it from replacing NN 6.2, but it would have nothing of it. Any one know where I can download 6.2?

well, while I love the logo that was made for me in this post. they wont let me use it. Stupy heads. Oh well. Still plugging away.
Keep the help coming.

Hi Webbedfeet,
Just curious. The primary elections here in the U.S. are coming up shortly. When will the site be finalized and, also as a Republican to the right of Attila the Hun, when will our efforts result in your announcement as to who won the election?
John

webbedfeet -> RE: RE: RE: will you please critique my site? (9/5/2002 9:37:17)

Well, the sites that I am working on are for candidates that do not have any primaries. As for the rest, our two candidates for Governor and Lt. Governor are down to one each. We only have one primary this year, and if you are not in this state, you won' t have to worry about it.
Being that you are Republican, you will only be voting in Republican primaries within your residential jurisdiction.
The site will be getting better and better, but to have it finalized? I have worked with many webmasters, who say a good site is never finished, because it is always growing.
I know that our Primary Election is on September 10, 2002. I am not sure, but they should be the same for you in all other states. You will want to make sure of the date, your polling place, and the candidates involved in primaries. Make sure to vote, as well, and the results should be on the news that night. If you have more questions, let me know!

Hi Webbedfeet,
Please remember that we live in Kentucky. When relocating here in 1981, my wife registered as a Democrat, I as a Republican, since a political party is required for the primaries. She voted down the street at a local school, I voted in a cow pasture " out in the country" [8D] Things did get better over the years. Our primaries are in November and we both continue to vote. During the final campaigns, both of us regularly cross party lines for the best candidate.

Campaign results in the Rochester, NY, area will not be telecast here in Kentucky. I' m just curious as to your candidates outcome.

John

webbedfeet -> RE: RE: RE: will you please critique my site? (9/6/2002 9:25:44)

Well, I will be happy to let you know the results after the primary. I will check in and post a reply on the 11th. ( next wednesday)
