I know this site is a little over the edge with Frontpagy stuff, but it sure was fun to make. Please let me know what you think and any problems you might notice. Thanks!

I'm with Gil, background music my seem "Kewl" but it will annoy the majority of your visitors. Especially when you don't give them an option to Stop/Start the music.

Netscape doesn't support background sound anyways. If you need to have sound then embed the sound file within the page and give the visitor an option to start it on their own.

The others warned me, the music is off and here we go.

First, if you have made changes to this site during the past 5 1/2 months, I would update the Copyright date: 2001-2002

I don't have the "Swis721 Ex Bt" font on my computer. I only have 1,493! So the default was what I saw.

The "Americana BT" font is difficult to read on the dappled background. It would be especially difficult for the old timers in the images. It is a great font for printed brochures, but I suggest a sans serif font. Examples are Verdana and Ariel.

This hyperlink doesn't appear as one:

Since I am reviewing your site, I stayed around the products.htm page long enough to realized that the bulletted list was actually hyperlinks. This could cause sales to be lost by someone that makes a quick exit! This was in contrast to the child pages where the bulletted list items were not links (plaque.htm)

The table holding the image near the bottom of the home page, is visible in NN 6.2, invisible in Opera 6, and very faint in IE 6.
A one cell table with the image and caption centered would work better. Specify the table with cell padding of 8 and width of image size plus 16, and no height size (NN doesn't like fixed height tables.

You indicated the site was fun to make. Make sure it stays that way!


I love the old time photos and the quotation captions.

The catalog link on the AcrylicAwards.htm page is incorrect. It reads:

By-the-way, I like the FrontPagey look, instead of so many of the "professional" cookie cutter sites produced with the templates.

I don't know much about site design...but I sure liked the music. It fits perfectly with the images.

I don't think we should get so stuck trying to have cookie cutter sites - creativity built the web.

If we pare our sites down to 3 second loads on a 56 I fear we won't have much to share.

Just my 2 cents.

You have a very valid point. Yes, creativity built the web. I agree with your post. I have nothing against a sound file on a homepage, but don't like having the music play on EVERY page. I believe that visitors should be given an option. That way everybody is happy.

The logo in the header seems a tad fuzzy - is there a way you could sharpen that up a bit?

Thanks so much for the great advice. I have made changes, I hope it is easier to navigate. I have to admit, though, that I am torn on the music. The music actually came first, I found these great 40s midis and the ideas for the photos came from that, so it is actually an integral part of the site. I did have a music jukebox and on/off controls, but the sound disappeard with IE 6. Here is the code I used

Is there other code I can use to give folks control, but still have the sound available?

I found out why my music will not play on my site with the code with on/off control - thanks to Microsoft. (Thanks Swooshie!)
