How do borders work without Front Page Extensions - 6/13/2002 14:36:35
My server does not have Front Page extensions (I think) and I disable extensions in Front Page, but I don't get how borders work. Tags such as <meta name="Microsoft Border" content="tl"> Are in the HTML, but when/where are these tags converted to the actual border HTML? Do borders require front page extensions on the server? Is the HTML getting parsed on the server to interpret this tag? Why is the border file being copied to the server if the include is not happening on the server?

To determine if you have the extensions you can go to www.netcraft.com In the top left corner of the home page is a link "What server is that site running?" Type you URL in the box and you should get a reponse that shows server platform and extension info... I think that shared borders are an "include" type of component. As such they are parsed at run-time on the server. It won't hurt to remove that code from the HTML, unless of course, you have some shared borders. Always glad to be of service.

"How do borders run without FP extensions" They don't. The actual HTML for the borders is in a hidden file. Phil "I don't want parole; I'm too busy working on my web site." Charles Manson, 3/27/97 http://1awebhosting.com 1A Web Hosting for Frontpage.
