Which version of "old" Netscape to use - 6/14/2002 1:32:09
I want to download an older version of Netscape to test our website against. (www.aloghomestore.com). I went to the Netscape site and find versions 3, 4, 4.5, 4.6, 4.7. On our original site, (www.loghomestore.com), approximately 13% use one of the above with 10% being 4.7, 3% being the rest. Our new site shows 9% using the above versions with 7% using 4.7. Just how far back should I go to make the site compatable and Yahoo friendly. (I hear they check you against an older Netscape version). Our new site does have some defaults in place for versions that don't read java script, css, whatever. Thoughts?

Definitely 4.76, the most widespread version of Netscape, across platforms. Loads of Netscape 4.7x users didn't make the jump to version 6. But there's no point in going with a version older than 4.7.
