Rock -> Allowing users to manage content ? (4/12/2001 20:52:00)

We are beginning to setup an intranet for our company and are unsure of the best way to allow users to manage content on particular pages. For example, we want to let one of our HR people write a small news piece using MS Word (or whatever) and then have it automatically inserted on the appropriate page. For testing, we’ve tried saving the text as an html document and inserting it into FrontPage as an include file, but all formatting (colors, bold, etc.) is lost. Likewise, when we simply cut and paste formatted text into FrontPage, formatting is lost. We had the same results when trying this with a new page with no style sheet defined. Is this a shortcoming of FrontPage? How are others handling content management of their pages? Any advice or direction is appreciated.

Thanks

Rock. Why not leave it in word format as a .doc? I'm assuming all users have the tools, word etc to minipulate the document, spreadsheet, presentation. The advantages of converting to html are more or less lost on an intranet where speed is less of a concern.

Have you looked at OfficXP and SharePoint?
