Problem with server extensions & search bot... - 6/19/2002 9:37:03
I am on a server that has the extensions downloaded (http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...l/fpse02win.asp) already installed. When I try to use the search engine bot, it gives me the following message upon install:
---------------------------------
The following pages in your web site contain dynamic
FrontPage components, such as a Search Form or a FrontPage
form handler. They will not work because the server you are
publishing to does not hae the FrontPage Server Extensions
or SharePoint Team Services from Microsoft installed.

search.html

To upgrade to the latest version of the FrontPage Server
Extensions or SharePoint Team Services from Microsoft,
contact your Internet service provider or system administrator.

{continue} {Cancel}
---------------------------------------
I also get a similar message regarding an asp that I have on the site; however, the asp works properly.

When I test the search page, I get the following:
------------------------------
FrontPage Run-Time Component Page
You have submitted a form or followed a link to a page that requires a web server and the FrontPage Server Extensions to function properly.

This form or other FrontPage component will work correctly if you publish this web to a web server that has the FrontPage Server Extensions installed.

Click the <Back> arrow to return to the previous page.
---------------------------------
The site I'm trying to make this happen is:
www.nittanylinehobbies.com and click on the search button.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated as I have talked to my host & he is almost clueless about what could be wrong.

Thanks in advance..

Are you using FP's "Publish" feature to upload your pages to the server?

FTP will not upload all the files needed for the FP "bots" to work correctly....

I'm just using the Publish Web feature from FrontPage.

Does it install the necessary stuff that the website needs automatically?

What could be wrong?

Try to "Recalculate Hyperlinks" live on the server. If that does not work, have your Hosting company reinstall the FP extensions for your domain....

I am using FrontPage 2002 (xp / whatever) that came with Office XP Pro. I am told by my host that he has installed the latest 2002 version of the FrontPage server extensions. They should be compatible; yet, I still get the error messages. What could be wrong?

Your server is running ...

WWW Site: www.nittanylinehobbies.com
Port: 80
Server Software: Microsoft-IIS/5.0
FrontPage Extensions: YES
Version: 4.0.2.5526

This means that you have FP 2000 extensions. NOT 2002. It should not matter however for a search component.

Have you tried my suggestions I the earlier post?

Rian
