rjaykay -> Site Critique/meta tag review (6/21/2002 14:12:58)

Hi All,
Could I please get some input on my site,
also could someone review my meta-tags and tell me if I got it correct. Thank You all for the help in advance.

Hi Robert - welcome to the Forum

I was somewhat confused when I hit your home page. I would have expected an introductory comment as to what your business is, what is offered, and then links to product categories and contact information or a shopping cart for purchases.

(1) Your E-bay links.
Following your link was the first time I ever went to E-bay (old fart).
(a) http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/rjaykay/ takes me to those items you're trying to sell, I can understand that.
(b) "rjaykay" takes me to your sign-in page - why would you want to post that?
(c) "(70)" takes me to what seems to be a testimonial page as to your service. Why rely on E-bay for that? Consider creating a guestbook or customer feedback page on your site. (Again, please remember this is the first time I've visited E-bay.)

(2) You've mentioned that you're planning on adding new pages so I'm making the assumption that some information in white will be new links.

(3) For items listed in black text, have you considered a page for each item with an image as to what is being sold?

(4) How do you intend buyers to pay for the items? Will it be through E-bay or a secure shopping cart on your site.

(5) As to meta-tags, use the "Search" option at the top of the page. There have been many threads as to what should be included, the format to use and also if they are necessary considering new perameters from search engines.

I hope this helped Robert.

Hi John,
Thanks for your time,
I cleared my cache ,cookies, and typed urls and now I see what you saw, Yes I will have to do something with some of that ebay stuff,
I guess I went overboard with the page for starters.
I will be making links out of the white text on the right as time permits, linking to pages appropriatly, I want to add a shopping cart, any suggestions, and pages for all the listings in black text, I just got to figure it all out now that I have the basics.
Your input has helped a lot!
Thank You!

Robert

Hi Robert,

Please remember I'm not a website designer. I have a personal website and I'm here to learn. I've provided input as to what a visitor would see. There are others here with experience as to website design. Hopefully they will reply as to improvements to your site.

Hi Robert -
A newbie here, but just wanted to post a quick comment or two -
First off - good job with the tables resizing to 100% of screen,
Looking at the site on my other monitor, I would consider using a different color scheme, sine black and blue are often hard to read, esp on Macs. Also the font seems very large - 10 point font at 800x600 is actually large enough to be easily read, 12 point emphasises well.

Good Luck with your business
