Oh yeah, number one for sure.

#2 reminds me of our second choice for decorating my sons bedroom. We went with bugs instead...

Okay I am going to disagree.
I think the mariner idea is the way to go.
Get them to remember your name with the word association.
I would make some changes to the site but I think an original design with the seafaring theme will do more for you than a template.

take your colors from the lighthouse image and design around that.

#1 is more professional for sure. You could adapt some of templates' images to include something more marine like. The other site is looks to much cartoon-like. Not professional in my humble opinion.

I am going to get on my soap box now.

I think it is very important market your service. The best way is to come up with a pleasing site that has a memorable message. We get too hung up on how professional it looks with out thinking about what it says about you and whether someone will remember you. Are they more apt to remember Rich Mariner if he uses seafaring images. I think so.

But that is just my opionion I could be wrong.

I would tend to agree Shirley, the " obvious" first choice for me was number one because it " looked professional" . Given a good working over and using good seafaring images the other could also. Personally I wouldn' t get carried away with having the ships wheel repeated over and over again in the menu but seafaring images will work. As a thought, using those images within the template could work out nicely, a marriage of concepts perhaps.

Another option would be using Tom' s cool blue template with the crashing waves

http://www.frontpage-art.com/coolblu/

But I really like the light house. You could come up with a great slogan using that. And a very professional looking site with a little time and effort.

I think Troy has a couple of blue templates that you could adapt nicely as well. They are fairly plain and you could use the lighthouse with them.

Okay I will be quiet now.

Hi Rich,

I would have to agree with Shirley. Using a template for a site advertising as a web designer is not a good idea. I like the play-off with the mariner idea. That is cool and catchy..

I threw something together in an effort to give you some ideas. As Shirley mentioned, I think the lighthouse idea is cool but Im not particluar to clipart looking sites so heres a quick idea with photoart instead.

:)

Hope it helps,
