A 2nd Spooky Login or Access Levels? - 7/4/2002 23:12:51
I have Spooky Login running (and quite well, thanks to Spooky!) Now I want to add another section within the site. It' s a real estate site & currently visitors can login to see investment properties. I want to add a section so that visitors (in a separate area) can login to see residential homes. It' s OK if they' re in the same database and even if users from one want to get into the other section. But there are a couple of things I want: (1) I want to know where they came from in the first place so I know what kind of customer they are, and (2) I want them to go to different success pages when they login.
Should I set up another spooky login database, etc. in a subweb or should I use access levels? My thought is to use access levels - I only need two at this point. Does this sound feasible? I hesitate to mess with it and ruin what' s currently working. (Of course I' ll back it up first, but I' d like to limit my ' downtime' as I try to figure it out. )

I think access levels will suffice. The success page will depend on the login type (or not - it doesnt have to) but any pages for view by a visitor will need to be protected by a script that checks (" AccessLevel" ) = " Guest" as opposed to the other private page which should exclude " Guest" s The default registration property should be " Guest" and perhaps you manually modify the database for other visitors?
