Does the <marquee> command

a) slow down page loading time a lot
b) generally make scrolling on a page (once loaded) stuttery

??

Thanks

It shouldn' t slow page load much more so than if your marquee content were static...

The only stuttery part will depend on the viewers connection speed... slower connections make the marquee look stuttery...

but surely once the marquee has done one revolution (a complete loop), it will be at normal speed.

You would think so, but I' ve seen marquee' s on dial up the constantly " skitch" across the screen.

Personally they annoy me... but I' m easily annoyed. :)

I would say test it out and see if you' re getting any " slow-downs" - maybe the ones I used to see were just on really slow servers?

I agree - horizontal marquees as gross! But vertical ones are more effective!

I agree that the marquee of itself shouldn' t slow thing down but getting the horizontal ones to run " smoothly" is tough. They always seem to be running too fast or too slow for my old eyes. On the other hand a well done scrolling (verical) marquee doesn' t usually detract from a site the same way IMHO.
