dedicated server for a newbie ? - 7/11/2002 17:49:41
Hi, I run the site www.artunframed.com which is almost 1gb in size. It' s hosted on a shared server but I need more space and bandwidth. I know nothing about linux or red hat. Is it a steep learning curve or could I pay someone to run it, maybe ? If so, how much would be the fair going rate ? Would they also have to be local to me, too ? Like I said, I really don' t know anything about hosting. :) I' m not too interested in hosting other sites, either. I' d really appreciate any suggestions ! David

I vote to just step up to a dedicated server plan. Some Providers let you pick which Server OS you want to use. windows 2000 is usually more $$$. Linux will probably be more stable and require less maintenance but will be harder to troubleshoot. Tech support will need to be first rate. The outfront folks just went with www.appliedi.net.
