.sit file - 7/16/2002 11:38:41
Can anyone open one of these for me, save it as something else and send it back to me?

I believe it is a Mac file and need the StuffIt expander, I know nothing of Macs and their strange ways!

It' s an image many times larger than I need it (attachment would be arounf 880KB, intended for print and I believe made in Quark.

I would really appreciate it.

I believe the StuffIt Expander for Windows is free. I would be willing to attempt to convert it for you if you want. I know nothing about Quark though.

I don' t know anything about Quark, either. Is a .sit file anything like a .rollover file or a .fetch file?:)

abbeyvet, I' d be happy to take a look at it for you. I' ve been on the Mac since 1991 so I do have some experience. ;)

Did they provide a .pdf of the Quark document? Converting is going to be an issue. Quark does make a Windows version but its not cheap. We haven' t upgraded to Quark 5.0 just yet which allows you to convert the Quark documents to HTML, I' m looking forward to testing it. I know it will never work properly, its like trying to convert a Word document to HTML, eek!

You can send the .sit to edward@eagle411.com. I' m here this evening and will be happy to help if I can.

Adobe' s InDesign can open Quark files, and there' s a free 30 day trial if you can' t find a quark user.

Hi Katherine,

Stuffit Expander is a free download (http://www.stuffit.com/expander/) but it is normally used for Mac files so even if you can open it you probably won' t be able to do anything with it. Since we do work with both PC and Mac files we do have it and also have ways to convert most files. If you would like to send it to me I can take a look at it and see what we can do. What type of file and size do you need?

I had another thought. If you can ask the person who originally created the artwork, Quark has an option of " Save as eps." You should be able to open it with a program like Illustrator or CorelDraw or even Photoshop. No matter what, you may have problems with fonts (if there is text).
