:) This site was designed using a Theme and FP2002. It is for a Computer Club and as soon as the summer is over, I will have my hands full inserting documents, schedules, etc.
I am not looking for " nice" remarks, just helpful critiques.

Thank you in advance.

Hi George,
Welcome to the Forums :)

I looked at your site with IE 6.0, resolution at 800 X 600 and speed at 28.8 on 56K.

(1) The initial load took 45 seconds due to my connection speed and several pages took some time due to the applets. Compared to many sites I look at, it was fast however.

(2) I was initially confused as to navigation on the homepage, but once I read through it I really liked it - great job and nice design :) I liked the red dot as to indicating the page I was on.

(3) http://www.rhcc-fl.com/clubinfo.htm Due to my connection speed, I normally hold down the <Shift Key> and open a new window when clicking a link (normally don' t use right-click since it doesn' t activate the " visited link" option) so I don' t have to reload the page I left. Became lost here since it didn' t load a new window and I failed to notice the " back" icon.

(4) PowerPoint links - I have the software so it wasn' t a problem. I did kill the download however. I' d suggest a button to accept or decline. I personally don' t like immediate downloads without my permission.

(5) All main links worked, I did not check links on individual pages.

Some of the above may not apply since you' re directing the site to a membership.

Once again, great job! I enjoyed the site :)

John

Thank you for your review.
I am painfully aware that because of the applets, the downloading of the pages tend to be slow. I am lucky because I have cable access to the internet, but I' ve seen dial-ups at 56k that were very slow for me but they claim that it is the way most pages download for them.
The PowerPoint presentations were given to me to publish, since they were part of past Computer Club meetings. I am not happy with them, but hopefully they will improve and get replaced.
Our Club membership is around 140 people and although it is summer and lots of members are away, by the end of August I will have lots to do.
:)

George,

I don' t see the reason for your " Best viewed with IE 5..." I reviewed with IE 6, NN 6.2, and Opera 6.02. No problems were notices in any of them.

When viewed with NN 4.76, the phrase " No documents at this time" was covered by the image of the book on your SIGs Documents page. This was the only problem noticed.

I was especially interested in your site as I am the volunteer for our Club' s web site. If you wish to get additional ideas: http://www.myscacc.org

Inexplicably, our classes have been running full so far in June and to date in July. Last year we also shut down during the summer months as so many of our residents bail out when the daily temperature reaches 100. This is from June to October. Our club membership is now 439 and is in one of Del Webb' s age restricted communities just outside of Las Vegas, NV.

Our classroom has 11 computers for the students, while the adjoining lab area is open for casual users with an additional 4 computers and one additional set up as a Photo Imaging Center, with two near professional scanners and a CD/RW drive. All are networked to a W2K Server for access to the Internet via cable.

If I' m honest I' ll suggest you ditched the sound on clubinfo.htm - over the virus alert button! I got very annoyed as I like to move the mouse around the screen as I' m reading - the sound was distracting

but good job!

:) Thank you all for your comments.
I will adopt some of your suggestions. The sound over the Virus Alert was more an experiment than anything else. It is going.
The best viewed with IE will be modified. I received several reviews from people using Netscape and they did not seem to have a problem.
We do not compare to such large Club as the Sun City Anthem Club. Our Lab has only five computers for training. Sun City' s site is very comprehensive. I tend to stay away from including documents that can only be seen with the Acrobat Reader. It seems to take too long to come up with the documents but it is perfect for large documents.
Once again, thank you for your critiques, all very constructive.

George,

The reason I use a lot of PDF documents is because we have many members on Mac platforms. All can readily see. The newsletters are created in MS Publisher. Adobe Acrobat is simply a printer as far as Publisher is concerned.
