Color scheme change - 7/20/2002 8:24:42
Hi all,

I just finished up a few subtle changes and modifying the color scheme at warmtiles.com
As always your input would be greatly appreciated.

VERY attractive! Only thing I didn' t like was the extra <hr> ' s on the COntact page. The home page looks very warm and inviting - perfect!

Great! It has a lovely glowing feeling about it! I' m not sure about the menu text colour - prefer the text in the .jpg (top left) but it still works well

The " warm tiles" logo is very nice, although it is a little pixelated but its not really noticeable

As usual, a great looking job!

What I think is meant, is the thin black lines between the yellow and white contact personnel

Mike 54,

Very nice site. Great colors, goes perfectly with brochure. All worked well.
One bit of advice, just my humble opinion.

Under Istallation/Selection, I would remove the representative tile colors and stick with the alternating pale and med. orange colors. It will look much more professional.

I would also like to see a little better header on your subsequent pages. You have so much to choose from. It just feels a little too weak for me. Perhaps the solid orange with the slice of the brochure to the right and of course your warm tiles logo on top of the orange to the left ... or just typed straight across the top, more of a vignette. Hope this helps.

It is looking great.

Mike,

The whole site just fits! It' s great!

The tile selection chart is a bit garish, but ties in perfectly with the tri-fold brochure. The brochure and the web page charts differ as the web page has the extra column " Quantity & Color of Cartons for this Area." I really don' t understand the product, but the color of cartons is only important at the time of installation. The installer will not have the same table unless it is printed on the carton. Otherwise, that column doesn' t seem to add pertinent information for the web reader. Just a thought.

I also have a problem with the " Downloads" link name. Downloads to many web visitors means " programs" and other tools. " Documents," maybe?

Oh my goodness. Have you taken a look in Netscape 6.0? Or is there something wrong with my computer?!

RE: Color scheme change - 7/31/2002 16:07:03
aahhrrrggh, what happened???????

It looks fine in IE 4+ (and 6), NN 4+ (albeit with some funky stuff happening) and also in Opera 6 but NN 6.2 :):) the menu code fills the page, what' s more it appears that any include pages are not handled correctly.
Also for some reason the menu doesn' t show up in Opera 5.12 either ???? Can' t they all just get along?

Any ideas?

Thanks Gail for pointing that out (I think :))

Very nice Mike54.

Looks like you' ve taken to heart everyone' s suggestions. The header on your other pages is much improved and you changed colors Installation/Selection page.

One further suggestion would be to make sure your type is consistent throughout the site. All titles the same size and color and body text the same size. Try not to use more than one or two fonts, three at the most. And, increase your space between your header and type on every page. I personally do not care for the large green bullets. In most cases, you really don' t need them, if you do, use the generic little black ones. The green takes away from the great colors of your site.

Hope this helps you. Your site is looking really good.

Mike,

Two things:

1.) On the footer (the one with the copyright), the email to the mailto link for customer support goes to egs-eg.com and the email to the webmaster goes to egseg.com Those may, of course, be right but I just mention it because the two URLs are so close.

2.) The copyright date says 2001 but it' s 2002. I know there are many, many people here who know more about copyrights than I do. So if I' m wrong hopefully someone will correct me.

Tony

p.s. I also got a pop-under. Was that from you? At least it wasn' t for the " Amazing X!0!" [:p]

Hi Tony,

The email addresses are indeed correct (just the way the alias was set up for information).
Thanks for catching the copyright.:)
No, I had nothing to do with any pop under but I have noticed they are becoming more and more invasive. I actually have things pop up on my screen occasionally even when I' m not on the internet.[:' (] Go figure.

actually i don' t find the warm tiles logo anything like as warm as the orange colour scheme: for me it' s neutral if not verging on cold, not quite the image you' re after?! how about a brown logo or something like a bright/deep red? something like the brown/dark orange in the Electric floor warming system pic?

otherwise very nice

I tend to agree on the logo dave but was told that we are sticking with it (for now)[:j]. Warm Tiles is going through a marketing make over so I' m hoping to be able to bring it in line soon. Thanks for taking a look. :)

Just my opinion, but I think the pages would look more finished without the edge5.jpg in the lower right corner.

Richard,

That' s an interesting observation. The intent was to enclose the page at opposite corners. You' re saying it doesn' t accomplish that?

It does acomplish that in a way, but it kind of stresses that the page isn' t filled. I like the rest of the look a lot with the margins set as they are.

I' m having a hard time coming up with the right words to explain it, but it just seems a bit out of place to me. Off balance or something.

Mike,

I don' t know how i missed this post before. :):)

I am not sure if I like the bottom corner either. I do not think it adds anything to the design. It is just there.

I was not sure about the color at first because I am not big on orange but the shade works.

Is that one of vinces menu' s?

I' ll have to take a look at that " balance" thing. Maybe extend that corner back across the page?

Yes, Erin it' s Vinces, works great.
