In my site I had done an asp page using DRW in FP 2000 and the url of my page is http://www21.brinkster.com/s2bt/ .In the html where should I change for the ODBC connection.For the ODBC connection the script what they had given is

I forgot to mention, always watch out for the differnece between " /" and " \" in a path. They can give you a headache...

No, do not place it in your gloabal asa file. This ASP script should go into the page itself. Your ASP scripts should be somewhere near the top of the page. Example:

Placing the script in a specific postiion on the page depends on when you want it executed. If you need your script executed immediately as the page loads in, put the script where I stated. If you need the page to load in and/or a component to do something first (before the script is executed, then place it anywhere you need it below the point I just described. 7 times out of 10 most scripts go in the beggining.

Are you talking about your Global.asa file??? No, don' t delete anything in your global.asa file. Leave everything in that file alone, especially if you do not know what your doing.
The Global.asa file is the connection between your database(s) and your Frontpage website project. Only alter this file is you know what you are doing.
When you use the Database Results Wizard (DRW), this file (Global.asa) connects the DRW to your database(s). If you play with this file, your connection could be put into jeporady. If this IS the case, let me know. If you did not touch it, then don' t.
When using .ASP in a webpage, your creating your OWN connection to the database. Your not using the Global.asa file like you would for the DRW. Generally, you use .ASP to create a script when you need to perform functions that are OUTSIDE the scope of the DRW.

Thank you for the code segment. I looked it over carefully. All seems to look fine. DRW code usually does not have to get altered. The only times I have seen people change anything in DRW generated code is when they update the SQL Query by hand. Your SQL looks fine. Here it is:

Evidently you are asking the database to return ALL records in your user table. But I did notice that you did not send the WEBBOT code that goes along with this code. Is this ALL the DRW generated for you? Above it there should be some WEBBOT code. It would look something like this:

Do you have your WEBBOT generated code too??? Then all should work. If not, then you are going to have to regenerate your database results again using the DRW.
After recieving your email, I got confused. So I went back and reread every posting made since the beginning. And I am having trouble trying to figure out what your actual problem is.
When the DRW generated this code for you, did you have problems with it? Can you connect to the database? Does the database do what you want?
Let me know a little more what your goal is.

I don' t understand... You are creating a very basic SQL query that does not do anything outside the DRW. Wouldn' t it be easier to use the DRW? With the DRW you can format the results in many ways. Using the VBScript/ASP method I just gave you, you have to do it by hand.

I' m glad the code worked for you. But if you looked at the code segment I sent you, in the middle of the code, I put a message in the area where you would want to put the code to display the results. I left that part OUT so you could configure it the way you wanted.
The reason you are not getting any results is becasue there is nothing between the:
CmdRecord.Open SQL, Conn, 1, 3
and the:
CmdRecord.Close
code lines.
So then, I opened the connecton, the SQL was performed, then I closed the connection immediately. This is why you did not see it. There is no code to display the results with.
You asked me to put some code in to display certian field results. HOW do you want it diplayed??? There are so many ways. This is why I asked you the question in my last email. I' ll ask it again:
Question:
Wouldn' t it be easier to use the DRW? With the DRW you can format the results in many ways. Using the VBScript/ASP method I just gave you, you have to do it by hand.

Also:
I just went to your page. It would not display. Check your Server.Mappath. You have (" /s2bt/db/db1.mdb" ) in the path. What is s2bt??? Is that your base path??? Usually, you do not need the base path.
Example:
If a website project has a path of: /s2bt/db/db1.mdb and your project actually resides in s2bt, it should be put into the mappath like this: /db/db1.mdb. In other words, you do not need to first BASE path in the mappath. Try removing the s2bt from the path.
Try that and see what happens.
If it still does not display the page, let me know. Also let mwe know what type of display you want.

It occurred to me that I have never done what your asking me - on my own. Every time I required something like this, I used the DRW. So we are going to learn how to do this at the same time. For that I need you to post a copy of the exact ASP code you have completed to this point. It would be easier for me to work with your actual ASP code. So post me the completed ASP code (that you have so far) so I can see it and try to work your requirements into it.
