Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any tips on search engine submission? I have never submitted anything, and not really too sure where to start?

Many Thanks

If you REALLY like reading try this one too:

http://www.selfpromotion.com/

There is a load of information there, most of it really excellent, but it dies take soem ploughing through.

There is an overview of the topic here - nothing like the sort of depth you will get at those sites but a good intro to the subject.

You will also find a lot of information if you search these forums - especially the Tips from the Community forum

Hi All,

Great question and wonderful answers.

Light reading? I don' t get much of what SEO folks talk about, maybe my brain is simply not that " wired" . The more I read the more it seems to be a full time job.

Has anyone had sucess with some of the software programs? Can anybody recommend a " for real" SEO? Goto is always and option but some of the bidding fees are insane (1.09 pc for a .50 product)[8D]

Thanks
Barry

Stay away from submission software, the SE' s recognize them and treat them like spam... your submission needs to come from a browser to be effective.

There are only a handful of SE' s that you need to worry about, no more than 12 are widely used. Many of the big names like Yahoo now charge for a submission anyway... so unless you feel like shelling out a few hundred bucks just stick with the basics like Google, Alta Vista, etc.

Submitting isn' t too time consuming... just a few minutes at each and you' ll be set.

Optimizing for SE placement is a different story... that entails some specific criteria for the way you build your site.
